I took several photos of the rocks in Monterey, on the same day as this one, but I didn't post any of them. They were too indistinct. Thanks for sharing more tips.
I'm back in Washington now, but there is still plenty of opportunity up here.

hey Chris, thanks for your comment on my photograph. You mentioned you had just tried the same thing and I guess this is the photo you meant. I like these type of photos and I think there is a wealth of opportunity along the california coast to capture some amazing abstracts. What I've tried to do is to capture images with little shadow and completely in the light. then I hope it will look interesting enough later on to process in photoshop elements. Best of luck

Thanks for the feedback. It probably is a bit over-exposed. Your photo is quite a bit darker than it was though. Part of what caught my eye was how light and bright everything was, especially the cement
