Eamonn,
Great photograph! What a face: the missing tooth, the bow tie, and the hair make for a really memorable combination. He reminds me a bit of Bela Lugosi or something. Love the tone too.
regards-

Thank goodness for the "Randoms". Without them, I would have missed a truly wonderful portrait. Beautifully composed and lit photo. I looked at it and thought, this screams "Ireland" (no I haven't been, but we've all seen the movies... hehehe). Then I read your about... Truly excellent work here Eammon!

Keep posting :-)

luvvit. You captured the moment well. Again, may be my monitor, but looks like a strange dark brown tone - was it B/W? (I know nothing about films!)

Wow, I just looked at your portfolio - so much talent! And so young (I'm envious). I stay stick with the photojournalism, landscapes, people shots and forgo the fashion photography. Beautiful work.

A crop from the top to the textured clouds to me would have helped. The dark area is a bit frustrating to work with..Yes I'm playing with this one with the scroll button All in all tho I love the colors of the blues.

Sorry about the lousy scan quality. My digitizing gear is going all kinds of crazy.

and soon, so too shall I. (enter twilight zone-esque theme) 3:30 in the aye-em, g'night to all.

That's a pretty good guess on the exposure. Most "automatic" exposure meters would have grossly underexposed here.

Just the picture itself is lovely, but the way you captured is excellent. The colors are really "Irish", or at least what I would imagine Ireland to be like.

I too, like these subtle dark & light blue colors in pictures. I experimented with cropping your image on my computer screen, and found I liked it with cropping from the top down to where the clouds begin to get puffy and then from the bottom up to just below the pier bridge and liked that. Just experimenting and that's what I liked, personally.

John, I'm with you on the foreground. I've experimented with cropping but unless I've adamantly decided on a crop I like to post things full frame to get other's ideas. This was from my first summer of shooting and I think a better understanding of exposure would have heped me bring some detail out of that dark spot. I've always liked this picture for the way the water and sky compliment each other and the lines of the dock, but mostly because I'm quite attached to this particular town on the Cape!

The clouds are very moody. I like the color in the scene. The composition doesn't grab me, maybe it's the dark foreground. I do think it's a nice grab.
