These next series of 3 shots from the Tent Rocks are not as successful as the other composition - I think because they are somewhere between closing in on a nice focused abstract shot, or enough landscape to see all the strange features in relationship to the sky and surroundings. These seem to be somewhere in that indistinct 50-70 mm middle ground where the shapes are distinct but there really isn't a strong color or detail for the eye to queue on.

I think so too. I had the same problem at Kasha. The stone is such a bland color on film that the overall structure of the tent rocks looks better in B+W.

I can't think of where you took this shot - but looking down is an interesting capture - most of the time from what I remember you are looking up.

Hey Tom:

Been in a few Kivas, and never was able to get a nice bright ray of sun down in there like you have captured here. I think the exposure is great - just right for this type of shot, so in my mind I'd disagree with the comments on overexposure, etc.

A good example of a space that needs a wide angle lens. I'm thinking you braced the camera against the back wall for long exposure or managed to drop a tripod in there?

Such an unworldly image. Excellent work. It allows us to enjoy a natural phenomon known to so few.

What a beautiful shot. You did a great job of balancing the bright light from above and the darker inside area. Very cool. It seems to my eye to tip slightly to the right. Maybe it's just the angles of the beams but you might try rotating it ever so slightly counter clockwise.

megan

Nice image, well composed with the shaft of light balancing the ladder. I agree with Becky that a bit more definition where the light strikes the floor would be nice and I think it might be a little more mysterious if the overall exposure were darker.
