I know what that is like - I love shooting in the himalayas, but have had to 'sleep with my batteries' in my bag and warm them up in my pocket between shots!!

Very interesting image, from your portfolio i HAD to click through to look and see the invaders, cool organic little buggers... interesting, is that red filter, red post-processing, or red lighting? and wil you tell us what plant seed/spore those are?

Cool image!

Thanks! I like it too, i have been drawn to it for months but I'm uncertain how 'artistic' it is, or worthy of my portfolio? ... even though i love it as a memory and composition.

Glad you like it thanks for commenting.

nice shot, I like the depth of field and the shap eye. Thanks for sharing! was it shot color and converted or shot B&W?

Only one thing might improve it slightly... the eye loses sharpness and focus at the back, if your plane of focus were a touch deeper the eye might look better, but then again maybe not, this might be ideal, I can't say without seeing another version.

Oooh.. Awesome! I absolutely love the texture! The ice so sharp, water so soft, and sky so playful. the sun is perfectly placed to add dynamism and the composition is flawless! Nice job! Excellent! Is that fog in the horizon? How perfect the weather cooperates. How far north?

Oooh, great Macro! wonderful colors, nice depth of field, very SHARP! Thanks you did a good job placing the horizon where you did.

However, since you cropped it, did you try alternative crops where the flower was not dead-center? it is a bit non-dynamic being so symetrical and centered.

Cool lines, sky, and foreground.

Interesting that it is Israel, it could be anywhere, but it reminds me of California a lot.

I Don't think the noise is as bad when in full size, the jpeg compression accentuates it. I shot it in camera RAW, the other one has bad noise because I shot it in jpeg in low light, this one is a LONG exposure on camera RAW, but I think I will check out neatimage, do i have to buy the plug in? or does the free version last forever/or expire?

Glad you liked those sites, I find them very helpful and with tips from the top floor, maybe you can listen to it at work while doing work, just like a radio? Enjoy! (p.s. i have a friend who works hard at a big law firm and was able to watch the 4th & 5th seasons of the Sopranos on his computer with headphones while at work doing work... crazy! I'm a teacher, When I'm at work 30 kids rely on my attention, there';s no real cheating

I dont have time to watch TV really, either, these are short programs you download or watch via the internet as time permits, check them out when you have 15 mins free:

Okay, I'm going to the gym, tell me if you feel any better in an hour, I'll lend you some endorphins but I'm not sharing my date tonight with you :-)

BTW: have you ever been to Egypt? I'm going - I'm so excited to photograph and visit that great place, I have deampt of it for 10 years, always fascinated by pyramids since i was a young-un.

Oh, yes! Thanks That looks even more picture-perfect-postcard-esque now. Exactly what I was looking for in the image (Which I showcased at a "Kitsch" show at a student-run gallery in New York) I think my print version has more saturation like yours here, often I upload un-retouched original jpegs to usefilm but play with them more before printing. Thanks for reminding me about burn/dodge I almost never do that but it really brings out the greens and details in this image, I'll go touch up my original! Thanks again and I DO Like it!!

Hmmm that is strange, your image looks the same as mine and when i download it is is named "original.jpg" did you attach the unedited one? my original is a little blurry so i sharpened which may have accented the noise, here is my smaller version i edited for my website, I think I like the softer focus less noise in this version, but I could up the contrast (via levels, right? you don't use bright/contrast do you?)

Thanks for the advice, yes I know i need one, but I want one with 35mm equivalency lenses/focal length and they are out of my price range, so I have to decide if I should get a digital rebel anyway and upgrade again in a year or two when the newer models become avail. I leave in 2 months for Egypt and will spend 6 weeks in India this summer, 3 full weeks of which on a photo safari... I may get a DSLR, but I also may just shoot film :-/ indecision and budget issues plague me

Oh, WOW! that's amazing, how cool... I never thought of that! I need to get me some ND filters I use polarizing all the time, of course, but so far only on film, I don't yet have a dslr, my digital camera's 'polarizer' is my sunglasses, LOL!

That's a great bag of tricks, keep them coming!
