Many people have commented on the amazing light in this picture. I do not know whether they are aware of the fact that this is a high-dynamic range (HDR) picture, as indicated in the title. It is certainly composed of several pictures with different exposures that have been blended with a special software (have a look at the watermark above the right and of the bridge). Googling 'HDR photography' should get lots of tips how to try this yourself.

Greetings,

Paul

PS: Francesco, congratulations for POD!

Good work, nice model and b&w, but I think you should do a different crop, IMHO it improves the picture, see below.

You captured her expression lovely, and the b&w tones are wonderful, but I think more depth of field would have been better, to have both eyes in focus. But maybe you could not stop down further because of low light.
Anyway, I like this photo, the dreamy look on her face...

Greetings,

Paul

Excellent composition, but I would prefer the background to be a bit more blurred, just a tad, maybe opening the lens one or two stops. This picture

gives you an impression of the amount of blurredness I am thinking of.

Paul

Well captured moment! And thanks for your comment on my image, although I understood only parts of it, as I don't speak Italian.

Keep on taking pictures,

Paul

Good perspective and creative use of extreme wide angle, too bad the car is not fully captured on the left, then it would have been even better.

Paul

Hello Dominic,

I don't know why the others complain about the focus here, to me it seems as if the face is in focus, it just doesn't have as much highlights as the hair an therefore looks less sharp. I like the composition and the expression here. My suggestion for future portraits would be to try a wider aperture, like 2.8 or 4 to get less depth of field. Selective focus on the face/eyes and a blurred background is always nice for portraits.
Btw, thanks for your comment on my underground image, it was the most encouraging comment I got in ages! And thanks for the rating although I have my images 'comment only' because I don't understand the rating system ;-)

Paul

great pictures, both of them, and the choice of b&w is just right to concentrate on the light effects.

What an incredibly strange view, the conversion to b&w has converted the landscape to a graphic that reminds me of a checkerboard. Too bad the picture has compression artifacts.

Hi Bryan, thanks for your long comment! Well, you're right that this picture has nothing really special, I just wanted to do a shot in the underground, and I liked how it turned out, capturing a bit of the atmosphere of a London underground train. What would you have done to get a picture that is more appealing, framed differently? Focused more onto one of the faces?

Greetings,

Paul

better colours than reality...maybe a little less saturation would be better. Otherwise, great image, well composed.
