There's just something about RMNP. The elk are fabulous. This is a nice capture!!

Hi Lee:

Thank you very much for your kind comment. I have been to RMNP more times than I can count, hoping for an opportunity to come away with some good images. On this day, I truly lucked out (right place, right time).

Hi Kim:

Thanks you again for your nice comment. My Samoyed is quite patient with me and my camera.

Hi Kim:

Thank you very much for your kind comments. It is always chilly at that elevation (11,000 feet or so, just above timberline), even in July. The clouds made it even more so, but the shot was taken using the hood of my car for support, so I wasn't far from warmth.

Hi Fred: We'll be looking for you guys on around the 8th. The Los Alamos Big Band will be playing a dance in Taos that day, but I am not sure whether we play in the afternoon (2-5) or in the evening (7-10). I hope to get to Bosque del Apache tomorrow AM.

Fred, You are merely tempting me (cruelly, I might add) with your new supercamera. Well, you have achieved success in this endeavor, and I can only say that I hope Nikon comes out with adequate competition soon.

Very nice, Fred. I would try to crank up the DOF a little this year with your new flash setup.

Nice capture! I would be tempted to try to get rid of the post and fence in the background.

Hi Kim: My biggest criticism is that the sailboat is centered, but in order to keep the foreground, you got what you got (you forgot your portable time machine to get there a few minutes earlier). My guess is the light may have gotten better a few minutes later, but hte boat would be gone. You might be able to goose up the saturation and contrast in PS and get around some of this. Overall, a very nice image. Alternatively, you could use PS and layer in the sky from your solitary tree image.

This is definitely one of the best sunset photos I have seen. My only criticism is that you should have used a 4x5 view camera for this image

This is a really neat photo. I have not seen hot air balloons with a water foreground before. I wonder what the image would look like with the saturation boosted a little to bring out the reds.

Fred, this is another fabulous image. The silhouetted cranes in the foreground make the image.

Very nice! How did you set your WB for this shot? Polarizer?

It's a little grainy for my taste, but a very nicely done portrait. I would like to see the eyes more accentuated, and the teeth less so. Of course, I am no a studio portrait photographer, and this excellent image is better than I could likely achieve.

This is an excellent flower photograph! Good use of DOF, composition is exellent. Did you use an artificial background to get the black?

Very nice capture!! It's unfortunate the the highlight on the leaf is blown out. I think you did a nice job of controlling the background.

I guess I must be too left brained for this image, as I have no clue what the message of the photo is. However, the composition, exposure, and focus are excellent, and that combination makes for an excellent photograph.

Another excellent capture, Fred. The house finches add some nice color to our backyard birds, since we don't have Cardinals.

This is fabulous, Fred! I think the only way you could possibly improve on it would be to have had a tilt and shift lens to extend the DOF so the forground rocks would be tack sharp.

Roberto:

This is an absolutely STUNNING image. Excellent composition, DOF, focus, and exposure. You have already learned one of the rules that a photographer (an old guy, friend of my father) told me once--with women, photogtraph the eye, and with flowers, go for the sexual apparatus!
