This is good, you have caught the moment, composition is brilliant as is exposure, a little off the top say 1/4- 1/3 may make the impact stronger. That said its a cracker.

This is well taken, good use of light, just one observation, the two trees to the right of the picture, the front one could do with a little burning in? a good picture from one who also 'snaps' trees,

I was struck by this photo, I work with people who have a learning disability & some with autism, You have captured the intensity of the moment, the total absorbtion, very well done

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for the feedback. In order to get a better black I pretended the film was faster than it is so i got less exposure on the film. I then develop the film at its real speed, in this case 100 ASA, technically underprossing it. If it works the negative is thinner, so good quality blacks.
Does that make sense, I may not have explained myself well.

O.K. first I dont know what i did, but its the same image up twice. Second the shutter speed of 30s was at 100 ASA, this was taken at 400ASA and shutter speed adjusted to create a thinner neg. for better blacks.

Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for the comments. I use Ps 7, which I can't use, still learning, Do you have a channel mixer tool? see comments above this one on my page for detail. The detail in Oscars coat was largely because he was wet, having just been swimming, I have loads of pics of a black, no detail dog.

I like this, I also think the trees are in the right place, like the relatively dark feel of the image. God one

Sarah, This is a lovely shot, sharp and very well exposed.
just a suggestion, what about cropping the right side to the edge of the front (in focus) flower. I held some card to my right and I felt it made the image stronger.
That said this is very well taken

I'm not sure what else to suggest, your theory of the film being too tight may be an cause but what the answer may be i am not sure. Suggest you put your query & pic in the forum, there is a lot of tech. knowledge & experience out there. Sorry i can't help more.
