Hi AJ,
thanks for commenting my photo.
I toke the capture with my Canon 100mm Lens without any adjunctive gadget, like tubes or dipoters. Generally speaking to take high magnification close-up I don't like tubes or other kind of tricks, but I prefere specialized lens like my Canon MP-E.

In this case i used a 2x magnification.
I always shot hand-helding my MP-E.

I can use two or more flashes in wireless mode.
It's simple but not cheap. You must put a master flash on camera(canon 580ex, or 550 ex not 430ex or 420) and the slaves where do your want. When you press the button to take a shot the master catches a syncro signal to the slves and all the flashes fire the light at the same time.
If you have a nikon system, like D70 or newer, you can use the built-in flash to coordinate the slaves.

Instead of the tripod I used the speed of the flash light to freeze the subject. I used f/8 to obtain a small depht of fild, so I have only the head in good focus.

I like the geometry of your capture, the dark triangle on the right, the green one in fore ground and the blue sky on the midlle, but a little darker and omogeneus sky could be better.

Thanks Hatz. I see that you are very fluent in english. To obtain good results I always shot in raw and I convert the capture in jpeg by using Canon DPP. There is a lot of difference between jpeg image directly produced by the camera and those one done by DPP.
