Orion setting in the West. Nice composite.

It looks like this exposure also captured the individual stars after the trails, but the camera was shifted a bit from the trails. The sky has a nice shade of blue.

Pretty good moon image for the 300 mm focal length, but does seem a tad over sharpened.

Wolf,

My belief is that the green object is a internal reflection in the lens of the planet. I get this quite a bit with high contrast subjects like planets.

I did find the point odd, in its loneliness, unless this was Venus. I did a similar shot "Blue light under Venus" http://www.usefilm.com/image/1509280.html to this with the real Venus visible in the twilight sky. I did include a foreground in my composition.

I like the shades of blue caused by the clouds. The star/planet is just a bonus.

I like this composition. This is a fun lens to shoot with. By just moving the camera a few inches, the perspective is totally different.

Nice capture. Normally, I get annoyed when planes fly through my compositions. But, it is different when they are part of the composition.

James,

I recently got the 20 mm lens as well. I like what you chose to emphasize in this capture. This lens really separates the foreground and background. You must have been really close to this car. Nice job.

Of course this cat deserves better than cat food. Nice capture.

Interesting idea. Shooting in portrait rather than landscape (rotating camera 90 degrees) would add more space above the moon and more of the foreground. I think this would improve this image. I think the overexposure of the moon here is not the problem in this image, but an artistic choice. The crowding of the items of interest at the upper and lower borders of the image is what I feel (my opinion, not an absolute fact) weakens this image. I like the shades of blue in the sky here.

Roberto,

Nice work for lunar eclipse photography on film at this (short) focal length.

You probably just need to set the exposure manually. You can start by using the sunny 16 rule (moon is in daylight) as a starting point. I substitute f/11 for f/16 for the starting point, but either should get you started.

Nice capture. A shorter exposure could have captured the crescent phase of Venus as well.

This is a good capture considering the short focal length you are using (for lunar photography). There is really good detail near the terminator.

Wolf,

Were you manually focussing on the object(s) or using autofocus on this and your other "Mars" attempts?

It would be interesting to compare this with an image taken at night, with the same equipment, etc.

Though there is little fine detail due to this being a hand held image capture, I really like the contrast in the final image. It has a dreamy quality.
