Exquisite color and sharpness. Ditto on how nicely the snow captures the pink sky.

Excellent composition! It has a nice wabi sabi appeal to it that's touching.

Nice composition, tone and color. The only possible thing that could help this would be taking it down a half step in exposure to get rid of the few hot spots (where you lose detail) on his face.

Love this! Please don't take this the wrong way, but it reminds me of Teletubbies (in a good way--it's happy and a little surreal). Your colors are vivid and the picture is tack sharp.

Interesting compostion and nice colors. Did you use a polarizing filter? This is a minor point, but the picture could be improved some if the foreground were more in focus.

Rena,

Nice capture and PS work. The sepia was a good idea here. It's hard to imagine that the building on the left is actually of any use. How could an elevator or stairs get up it? Maybe that's the point.

Thanks for your comment on my picture. The Fisher Center at Bard College is about 90 minutes north of NYC. The backdrop for the building is the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains, which I suppose mimic the waves of the roofline, but unfortunately, I could not get them in the shot, because there are trees in the way.

Original, strong emotion. Nice high-key work for a subject that's usually done in a more moody low-key style.

Luca,

The composition and colors are exquisite. Minor point, but I think you could have benefited from a smaller aperture. The trees are not as clear as I would like them to be--but maybe that's the look you were going for.

You've got a great portfolio! Thanks for the comment on my picture.

Wonderful textures and shades. I usually don't like landscapes that don't show the sky, but in this case your choice to exclude it works. I'm curious as to why you are using the 70-300 mm lens for this shot and wonder how it would have looked with a wide angle.

Excellent job. It's sharp and the DOF works great with the background.

Excellent work! I'd love to buy a print of this for my office (and my kids would love it too). Let me know if you are selling this.

This is the kind of shot that jumps out out you. I love the green hue and the way it glows in the sunlight. Was it late in the day? Nice composition and capture of the bird.

I really like this concept, and the image is striking. My only critique is that the left side seems too bright. But that is a minor point and it takes little away from the lovely pastel colors that belie the cold.

I like this shot, you'd did a nice job with the choice of DOF. I can't help but wonder though if it would look better rotated 180 degrees?

Thanks for your comments. I can fix the redness in her face with Photoshop. But the DOF, well, I don't think I can do any better with the camera I have. f/2.8 is the widest it will go. Maybe santa will bring me the digital SLR I want

Ken,

Thanks for the comment. I see what you mean about cutting through the hand. Didn't notice it before, because I was apying too much attention to their faces and wondering (always) about exposure.

The new rating system here will take some getting used to, I agree.

Keep doing these night shots, they're great!

I took a picture like this when I was there 15 years ago. My shot is so old that it probably isn't worth posting, but I remember loving how the arches created such a compelling vanishing point. I didn't know the story behind it though, thanks.
