Undoubtedly there is a little noise Luis - I'll check the file. The lighting on the stage is what you see - very low & uneven & with decals. Stage managers don't aim to help photographers!!
Cheers,
Suzanne

Hi Luis,
I hope you received the reply I sent earlier. I haven't been on this site much recently, due to time constraints, but am on holidays at the moment, so will be able to spend a bit more time on the web. I checked your gallery & loved the photos, but am about to go onto your website, so will comment there.
Cheers,
Suzanne

Hi Luis,
Yes I am a ballet teacher who is passionate about photography, so am lucky enough to be able to combine my 2 passions. Once the local dance community found that I do photography, they have used me a lot for performances etc. It does become rather hectic at times though.
Cheers.

Hi Cathy,
I used the Orton Effect on this to get the softness. It's Gaussian blur with lighten blend mode (but the blend mode can be varied according to the subject).
Cheers,
Suzanne

Hi Lydia,
When I took this, I also was very new to digital photgraphy & had a basic camera on auto. I selected the dancer, inversed the selection & made the background a radial gradient fill layer, taking the colour from her dress. There was actually quite a lot of noise in the darker parts of the dress, so I slightly blurred those parts, using the blur tool at 50%. I do a lot of dance photography now, & use 800ISO at least, plus 80 - 100 shutter speed. If you would like any more help, just email me at opitzphotos@hotmail.com
Cheers,
Suzanne

I like the differential focusing in this Ralf. It definitely adds to the overall effect. Well done!

Good point Megan. I'll give that a shot. I have to admit, I cheated & just desaturated everything that wasn't red - which included the 'Live'. It would be much better red, (why didn't the store owners oblige?!)
Cheers,
Suzanne

No I don't live in NY Anthony, but my son does. I just returned from a trip over there last week. I'll probably go again about May next year, so maybe we could meet - I love the Lower East Side & kept returning there - it's so photogenic!

Shh Cathy! This didn't actually need washing - it was the only thing I could find which was red. Don't tell anyone it was a set-up!! (Note that the basket was full, so there was plenty of other washing)

Hi Shirley,
Thanks for all your kind comments on my photos. I'm glad you have added me as a friend. What part of the US are you from - I'm going there in a few weeks, but could be millions of miles away!
Cheers,
Suzanne

Thank you Annemette. Not everyone knows Degas so it doesn't mean a lot. I wasn't trying to copy him as such, just give a hint. Thank you for your comments.
