Hi Kristin,

Im certainly no expert! but I have used Photoshop a lot and work with people who use it professionally, so you pick up the odd tip here and there

If you have Photoshop CS you can also use the shadow/highlight (image/adjustments menu) to balance the dark and light areas.

Kindest Regards

Todd.

Beautiful capture with perfect timing. The DoF is perfect to maintain the viewers concentration on the cat. Good work !

I really like this image. The girls eyes are very powerful and its only after a while that your eye wanders and find the "precious" T-shirt... excellent work !

Hi Kristin,

I don't think you've done a bad job at all In photoshop did you apply your lightening globally to the whole image or selectively ? you could use the dodge/burn tool to pick up the shadow areas and push back the path.

I find this a very powerful shot. The intensity of the child's eyes really pulls you in to the image.

Photoshop's clone or patch tool would easily remove the hair, but personally I don't think it matter that much.

Fantastic shot, really nice. I have the same lens and I know how hard it is to capture a shot like this !

I find the background slightly distracting but I don't think it hurts the shot too much. Moving your viewpoint around to the right a little would possibly have removed the black part of the background.

Great stuff though !

Its an interesting shot and the reflection of the buildings in the water makes it even more so, but I think the film has struggled with the dynamic range requested. There is quite a bit of lost detail in the dark regions and a lot of blown highlights on the pathway. Not that that really matters.

What was the focal point as the shot seems a little soft ?

Regards

Todd.
