This young lady has MISCHIEF in her eyes. Excellent portrait, Pat, out of a fantastic portfolio of (family?) portraits. Nice work!

Interesting critter, Chad...are you sure it's not a white pelican? It's like no stork I ever saw. Amazingly clear shot from a cam phone, but I think it's the first one I've seen!

OK, thanks for the comment, Mark. As a way of explaining why I did use sharpening and color enhancement, the picture was hand-held under artificial light, and there was resulting camera movement. The sharpening diminished that, and the original color was an ugly orange. I, and the band members, enjoyed the blue tint better than the orange. I appreciate where you are coming from, though -- a more purist point of view. Thanks again.

Excellent colors, Robert! I would like to see this one with a much tighter crop, leaving out all the background. That would enhance the surrealism inherent of this fine shot, and accentuate that yellow "glow" in the center pistil configuration. You have a great eye.

VERY other-worldly photograph, especially the mixture of reflection and underwater features in the lower left and the jaggedness of the tree reflections in the upper right. You can almost hear the gentle lapping of the water. Extreme moody feel to this beautiful shot, Stjepan.

This is a wonderful nature still life study, Ellen! Magnus, I agree with everything you said, and it looks like a slug or a snail did the damage, which doesn't hurt the photograph at all -- in fact, it DOES add interest. Hell, I wanna take a bite. Great shot, Ellen, and an apropos frame/border.

Very lyrical shot, Robert, at once graceful and gnarly. Congratulations on the balance and composition, and you gotta love the color contrast created by these "neighbors". I used to love seeing the spoonbills and cattle egrets on trips through the Texas Gulf Coast farmland on my way to work on offshore rigs. Never saw too many storks, and here you have "captured" THREE! Great work!

Thanx again, Peter. Your comments mean alot to me. I had a feeling that this shot was below par for this site because of the low viewing/no comment score it has garnered, but as you know, I like texture and detail, so I am happy with the shot. I do the best I can with my low-rez camera and appreciate your comments.
Here's a bigger shot of this huge gunnera plant. I had never seen anything like it before I moved up to coastal Canada seven years ago. They call them elephant ears up here.

Well, thank YOU, Steve! I looked at your portfolio also and there are some really interesting shots there -- an eclectic mix, but seemingly very telling of your personality. This shot was taken a few yards away from where I took my "Hovering Kingfisher" entry. I appreciate your kind comment, Steve.

Very successful still life, Edward. I love the lines and the subtle color in this driftwood, well-captured. I enjoy taking these texture and pattern photographs myself, and Heaven knows there is ALOT of driftwood in Canada to be sitting subjects for our pictures (I'm in BC). What a waste of alot of wood, but it's appealing to study. Maybe it's not a total waste. Nicely done and presented, Edward!

Elif, if those are sunflowers, they are the BIGGEST ones I've ever seen! HUGE! Looks like a little camera movement in this low-light setting. A tripod or other handy support would have helped this shot. I DID enjoy seeing the Turkish sunflower heads, though.

VERY nice, Peter! The wide dark border works to accentuate the torch's great jagged silhouette, against that ephemeral flame. Good flow and balance. There's a menacing quality about it that goes to my instinctual gut. You can feel this photograph. Excellent work from an excellent timestopographer.

Very appealing. The spatial symmetry is exquisite, tone is excellent. I don't think it should be cropped, except maybe some at the bottom to make the squirmy tree reach higher; I love the skyspace over the tree. Light whites and dark blacks for a great range. Fine job, Barry!
