You are right about zooming closer and wait for the people to walk out from the scene. I did try waiting, and as this is a busy area of the city, this is the exit of a railway station, people never stop to get in and out in the frame. Too bad, i should wait some minutes and shoot again.
Aperture, checked again in Exif, was 2.8 and focal at 17 and i was about 4 meters away from the shoe polisher.
Again, thank you for pointing out those very important details!

dear yannis,
i loved your subject. however here are a few pointers i would look more closely at. i believe that candid shots work much better at 50-80mm. you could zoom in closer and take away the distracting activity in the background.i would have waited a tad more till the person behind the man getting his shoes polished, moved away, a head seems to be sprouting out of the back of the subject's neck.another thing i noticed is that you have mentioned an aperture of f/2.8, at that aperture the background would have dissolved into a beautiful blur of colors, so i think that your aperture may have been much smaller because you have sharp detail in the background with good depth of field.i may be wrong, in that case please accept my humble apologies.
all that said, i loved your subject, and the intricate shoe polish box...way to go. warm regards my friend.

Wonderful composition! Beautiful colors!
I feel like it leans just a bit to the right. Use the horizon to level. Or maybe just add a border. Sometimes that helps.

you could do that...or take it again from another angle...if I got skies like this i would be out there every day taking pictures!  i think something in the foreground can give perspective, but not something at the bottom of the picture, if you get what i mean

You are right about the tree-bush, believe me i tried to crop the photo, but i didnt like it very much. Maybe i should try to eliminate the bush by hand..
