That was a quick comment. Thank you. I don't usually use 200 iso for sunsets, but I think I might in the future. The whole series turned out much better than anticipated. My dad teased me about using a whole roll on my first sunset on vacation, but it was worth it if this had been the only good shot. =)

And on a COMPLETELY irreverant note. I hope the moth died! I'm sensitive to strong smells, so I can't use mothballs or cedar and still breathe. Those "cute little moths" eat my winter wardrobe every year! Hah!
I love the shot. The blue offsets the beautiful yellow of the moth quite well. I love the light reflections around the wings. Wow. This is an awesome shot that deserves to be applauded.
(And it's not worse than the bug collection I had as a child. I gassed them with fingernail polish remover!)

I know it's been 2 year since I posted this image. Somehow I missed this comment. This was taken with a 640k digital camera that doesn't do any light metering. The blurriness was the alternative to having little squares all over the picture. I wish I had owned my Nikon 35mm back then.

Devin,
It's deinfitely a caterpillar, though I'm not sure which one. He sort of looks like an emperor: http://www.javajane.co.uk/Hairy/slides/emporer.html
But... Whatever he is, we don't have them in Northern Idaho. There's a guy named Bill Oehlke with a website where you can contact him with info about where you found it, and maybe send him the link to the image and he will try to ID it for you. http://www3.islandtelecom.com/~oehlkew/catanim.htm

On a side note, I love the photo, but think it would have been better without your hand in the shot. =)

That's a great photo of the Yaquina Head lighthouse. I have some color photos of it myself. Did you take the picture with the sepia type tone, or did you change it afterwards? I like how the fog makes it so the ocean is lost, and the only focal point in the photo is the lighthouse.

Very nice depth of field, here. Also, amazing that the cat help still. =) Mine never does. The cat is so detailed without being too heavily cropped. What apeture setting was this done at?
I'm inspired to try this with my cat. Pray she doesn't eat me alive.
Great photo!

It was actually in camera. I don't do any cropping or touch ups to the photos I post here. It was actually just one of those accidental shots. I was trying to figure out a setting on the camera and set the shutter off.
Thanks for the response.

Awesome! Wow! It's so perfectly centered, and an excellent black and white, and .. just WOW!
That detail is unreal! Great job.

Excellent timing. These shots are so hard to get. The lighting's just a little flat, but it's a great still of an action that's so quick.

I love photos that make me wish I had been there. This one has such a wonderful mood to it. A lifting storm, a beacon on the horizon, and a great rainbow. I also love clouds, so I particularly like this photo. Great depth here, and, unlike me, you know how to keep your horizon level. Awesome photo! Thanks!

It was actually taken in Idaho about an hour and a half from BC. They come through here on their migratory path, and they truly are fearless birds. They bite pretty hard, too. I really wanted something other than the typical photo of geese flying in a V. It's pretty, but it's been done so many times.

I like the graininess. It makes it feel all soft and warm. Not what I'd want in a "technical" photo of a flower, but if what you were going for was an emotion, a feeling, rather than a true photo of the flower, it's great. MUCH better than taking the photo and doing all this in Photoshop or GIMP.
It's all in how you see it. If you want crispness in a flower macro, one trick, if you can get the angle right, is to back off about a foot, zoom in a little more, and refocus. At least, this helps with my 2 Sony digitals and my Nikon SLR. Good luck with it, keep it up, and some day you'll get that shot that you'll look at and wonder if you were really the one that took it.

I love the flower, and the cobwebs. It adds a nice natural touch and that naturalness balances out the photoshop work nicely. Of course, I'm also a sucker for bright yellow flowers.
Definitely good work, and I like the way the blocks compliment the general roundness of the flower. Keep trying, and you'll get an image that balances perfectly.

I really like the fact that the shot is from the back of the flower. An interesting change from always seeing the tops of petals. Very crisp white against a black background. Wow. The lighting is great, the focus is wonderful. I can't believe you can get a picture without a halo on the white on that digital. Great job!
