Thanks, Roby, for being so kind as always!

The shallow DOF was intentional, I like the surreal looking it provides.

Saluti cordiali!

Kevin, maybe you're right, I don't boast of infalibillity as the Roman Church does. But I forgot to add some adjetives for the Church: dogmatic and sexist, for example.

Don't agree. The Catholic Church is obscurantist and the first enemy of freethinkers.

I really DO love such DOF studies. Superb! (great lens, BTW, it's always in my bag and very often on my camera...)

But yours is better!

Sergio, veo que vives en Valdivia. Qué envidia me das!

Ole (or olé) means "Bravo!", "Well done!", "Very good" or so. It is specially used to applaud bullfighters and artists (singers, for example). So it's a nice name, both in your language and in Spanish!
Regards!

thanks, Ole (BTW, I don't know if you are aware of what your name would mean here in Spain). I had already converted it to B&W, but your edition is just superb, better than mine, for sure.

Regards!

Such a lovely little lady! Given that you coudn't blur the background (it's too close) to isolate her, why don't use a smaller aperture? Since you shot at 1/4000 you had room for quite a bit of stopping down. The 17-40 is a great lens, even wide open, but it's sharper at smaller apertures, as any lens. Just my two cents! (or better shillings!)

It's a delightful scenery, but you've centered too much the horizon, IMO. The foreground is not very interesting, I would have cropped it, giving more room for the sky.

Don, those pines are "Pinus pinea", a kind of Mediterranean tree, hence it looks so strange for you. Phoenicians brought it here, more than 2 thousands years ago... But I woudn't surprise if Spaniards had brought it to California as well...

I thought it was snow!! But I think it's not very common in Alamogordo (BTW, my friend Josh is from Albuquerque, he's living in Spain for some years now).
I like everything in this picture, but the 3D feeling is gorgeus!
Congrats for your more than deserved "Photo of the Day"!!
