shot a couple years ago in the Fiji Islands on a hike. I really like the shimmer on this flower, and got a nice exposure on it against the mountain backdrop.
I actually love the background. It's got everything, the lush mountain, rocky hills, pines, dry yellow grass.... It looks like a painting behind the bloom with all those elements in perfect proportion. The exotic red flower is pretty but unusually shaped making it tough to picture. The angle you chose I think is the best you could have done with what you had, Curtis. Good job.
Calin, thanks a lot, i do appreciate the comment. i often feel people here on usefilm are not harsh enough, giving comments like "i like it, or it looks nice" and not really analyzing anything, so thank you very much. i recently went and spent hours scanning negatives to get some current work ready to put on here, and then later found out the cd i burned won't open, so this is yet another pulled from deep in the old photo archive. i'll try to get some more up to date and what i consider more effective works on here soon. thanks again. regards, Curtis
nice color contrast here, but the composition is not too good imho. the distance to the subject is too big, maybe a step closer would bring more deais in and make it more attractive. Also a different angle would bring a nicer play foreground baground.
