		   	Hi Anne,
Very good macro on this flower. The details are there, it has good colors, nice definition, sharpness. I'd say is not bad for a frist try at macros.
  Congrats,
  Be seeing you...
  Raamses.

		   	Ted,
Luckily for me, this plant is in my backyard! I'm working on a re-do to improve this since I love these flowers.
  Thanks for your comment!
  Regards, Anne

Beautiful colors and good DOF. Pitty the lefthand side of the background isn't a bit darker. Regards, Ted

		   	Mark,
Thanks for your comment. This bush is right under my stairs, so I'm becoming very well acquainted with the difficulties of photographing these flowers. Ever since I saw my first one, I have been captivated. I just have to remember to stop breathing when I press the button! lol
  Regards, Anne

Oh, so that's what they're called. They are difficult to photograph, because they're always swinging in the wind. I don't think it needs to be lightened at all. I like the colors' intensity. The background could be blurred a bit more though, with Photoshop. And oh yes, thanks for your feedback on those two Leica shots.

		   	Linn --
Thanks for the encouragement . . . and your comments are exactly what I was looking for on this. You are right about fuschias, though! The whole bush was dancing in the wind and I only got about three shots that weren't blurry. The nice thing about this plant is that it's in my backyard so I can "prune" as needed for a pleasing composition. . . unlike the parks I usually walk in where they really frown on pulling weeds out of the ground for a better picture! lol I'll be trying again when the wind is better.
Thanks so much for the critique!
  Regards, Anne

Good going girl!!! You are going to have a LOT of fun with the macro shots :-)
May I give some constructive critique? :-) The out of focus white petal in the foreground should not be there, and neither should the in focus part of a stem/leaf (?) in the top left hand corner.
I would also have liked to see less of the white background on the left hand side of the image.
Your focus is spot-on and you got a great DOF in the image.
These Fuschias are like obstinate spoiled little princesses! They swing in even the slightest of breezes, they "dance" and turn away from you - and it takes a lot of focus efforts to get them in a very good "pose". I know - I have tried shooting them many, many times and my most successful image was when Robert (hubby) lifted some interfering branches and leaves away from the flowers.
You also need to lighten up this image. The Fuschias have exquisite colours, and the tones are so beautiful to capture.
But dear Anne, I give you a High Five! for your efforts!
  Linn
