About There is so much beauty in Yosemite. I don't think this place even has a name (if it does, I missed it), just a small lake next to Highway 120. The weather was "partly cloudy" so the lighting conditions changed from minute to minute. I tried out my new polarizer filter on this shot.

Ann,

Thanks for your comments.

As a native Calfornain, I never been to Yosemite Park. By this photo, I need to go. This photo reminds me of a calendar photo. Job well done.

Gustav,

Thank you for your comment on this photo. I am still trying to figure out the polarizer--who knew it would be so complicated! :-) I know it can be adjusted by turning the filter, I just need to play with it to get better at it. Thanks for the tip on the color temperature--I'm going to check it out on my camera.

Regards,
Anne

Gregory --

Thanks for your comment!

Fall is a spectacular time to go to the Sierras. It's when I usually go as a matter of fact. Feel free to e-mail me when you are planning your trip and I'll give you some out-of-the-way places to visit in and around Yosemite and the Eastern Sierras. There's a lot of history in the area as I'm sure you know, and one of my favorite things to do is find places where interesting things occurred and photograph what's left there. It's led me to some truly spectacular places.

Regards,
Anne

Ann this is beautiful. I went in April for the first time and I fell in love with the place. Actually, I am trying to go again in October or November for 3 to 4 days to see more of the place and to shoot. I hope to see what it looks like with snow. Beautiful capture and very nice portfolio of shots. Look forward to seeing more :)
regards

Hello Anne,
thank you for your kind comment on my "peaceful countryside" image.
Having looked at and read your portfolio, it does sound very similar to my way getting into photography many years back....
I like this picture very much. Using a polarizer filter is certaily very useful but at the same time very tricky (angle of light!) I take it that this picture was taken around the middle of the day judging by the high content of blue in the picture...maybe you try to work with the color temperature in future...if you should be able to adjust this at your camera (K-Kelvin)
Kind regards,
Gustav
PS. just noticed the second picture. GREAT !

Hi Anne

Having seen the lighter image, I can now tell you that I prefer the darker one. I too prefer my images with darker tones (my house is decorated that way too!) and in some it works, in others it don't.

Don't see it as a flaw - both these images are good - depending on the individual "taste".

Linn,

I posted my "other" shot that is lighter and has more sky in a comment to Pavel. Of course I had one . . . lol

I tend to lean toward slightly underexposed shots because the colors seem richer to me, so it's good to get feedback that points out the flaws!

Yes, I did enjoy the day--it was just good to get out of town for a change of scene.

Regards,
Anne

Pavel,

It just so happens that I have another shot that is lighter and has more sky . . . :-)

I posted the other one originally because in this one, the wind came up at the end of the pond, and it lost the reflections of the snow.

Regards,
Anne

Hi Anne,
Pavel has a good point. However, this remains a very good image. I like the waterpaint effect that the reflections have.

I can also tell that you enjoyed your playing hookey :-) Just don't tell the editor!

Nice location, but the image is a bit too dark. It would be nice to see more sky, it will make the image more pleasing and brighter at the same time.
