This is more experimentation with low light/night time photography. He was backlit by a small light on the tall ferry-dock pilings. Other than that, no other light source was available. With a 4-sec shutter speed, I was hoping he wouldn?t move. He must?ve heard me whispering to myself, "holdstillholdstillholdstillholdstill...". Please let me know how I can makes shots like this better.
Frankly, I'm not sure what from a mechanics standpoint how to correct this, but I frankly was surprised to see that this was a night time photograph. The lighting combined with the portions of the sky you see at the top give me the sense of an early morning or late afternoon shot. In a situation like this I would have probably attempted to do a pretty wide bracketing of the exposure (say plus and minus one stop). However, that would have required a lot more time to complete and you probably would have lost the pose of the fisherman. Very tough little conundrum. I like the photo, though. Great composition.
