Gena - yes, this was a very emotional day for everyone. I was honored to be asked to take pictures of this unit’s departure before they headed off to Afghanistan. This was my first time viewing this type of event from behind the lens; twice before I was the one giving the hugs/kisses. Even still to this day, when I look through the various other photos taken and remember the scenes that were not photographed, I can’t help but fight back a tear or two.
