Jim, I think colour correction is something we all need to be aware of (the need for it, I mean). Your article would be ideal for the Usefilm "Articles" area we used to have and that Admin has said will return with the current upgrade. Many would be helped by it. I suggest you propose your article be added if and when this becomes possible.

You're right Jim! It does look better without that slight blue cast. I'll have a look at your tutorial when I get a chance. Thanks.

It's not so much the limitation of web color in the display of this image as much as it is the need to color correct your image. I've attached an image that on the left is original and on the right displays a best guess color corrected version. You'll see the biggest difference in Mt. Fuji and the upper portion of the image. You should see straight lines differentiating the tones and colors. A levels and curve adjustment is what was done. if you'd like to learn more visit my web site I have posted an article "Color Correction Made Easy". Perhaps it would help you with future postings.

Thanks for your comments Jim! Ultimately, nature will always prevail.

As for the color, the tiff file was a better shade of blue, but it doesn't display properly using web colors only.

One could say there is a bit of symbolism to this image with the conquiring of nature with industrial might. Very nice capture. I'm not sure if the scene really was this blue, but it looks like there might be a slight color cast to your image.
