Thx Gary! As much as I love traveling - I have not yet had the opportunity of seeing nearly enough places - at present count it's up to 39 countries and considering I'm only 22 I do hope to visit a few more. I might have to travel "with" you for the next while since the chances of me getting away any time in the near future are quite slim.
As for oxygen masks - no there was no need. We worked our way up gradualy through Peru and Bolivia and had no problems. I think it really starts making a bigger impact at over 5000m - I know at Everest basecamp we were feeling the effects of altitude sickness (headaches), but still no need for oxygen masks. But it truly depends on each individual person.
Take care,
Kasia
