About although this maize field (1 of my very first photos since I bought my camera, but do not think I wouldn't take any blurry images nowadays anymore :-}) is out of focus, I decided to post it as I like the curves so much
sharpness+saturation adjusted in CS2+some cropping

Thanks Manu for your comment...appreciated.
I just compared it to the original and I have to admit that sat/sharpness is a little overdone...thanks for drawing my attention to it.
By the way, had a quick look at your portfolio. All I can say: GREAT!
Regards,
Mireille

Great use of the curves and the perspective but watch out for the DOF and the focus and overdoing the sat/sharpness....keep going

Nice abstract shapes, lines and curves, but also with vibrant color and interesting texture. I like your crop of this, which I call a "letterbox" crop. This crop focuses the viewer on the lines and prevents the eye from too much wandering. As to the bluriness you mention, yes there is the natural depth of field transition, but I do not find it distracting at all. In fact, I think the softness of the blur in the more distant part of the shot enhances the abstract aspects of this shot. Also, the sharpness of the foreground becomes a focus for the eye. If the entire image was equally sharp, the eye might wander more and have nowhere to rest, which I think is very important. A nice shot!

It's become quite obvious that you and I have similar tastes in photography Mireille. I too enjoy the curves in this one. I would love to go back to many of the locations where I have taken photos and try to do better but sometimes that just isn't possible so I learn with practice and hopefully get better. I love the colours in this one and also the lines. Well seen and shot. Great photo.

Thank you also for your kind comment on my Timeless window shot. I like to try to find a photo through natural frames. That's always fun for me.

Cheers - Ann :)

It's a beautiful shot, Mireille. And, if you move back far enough, the bluriness disappears. The composition is flawless. Great early effort.
