Hi Kelly, thanks for the comment! I think the only thing I can offer is that you have to put yourself in a position where you know your quarry is going to be, and at the right time, so sometimes that may involve knowing something of their habits. From there it's a matter of patience and the right equipment to take advantage of your opportunities. Did I mention patience?!

Hi Dave, Just a question? You do wildlife so well and I love your bird photos. I was going to go out this weekend with a birdwatcher and take some pics. Any good suggestions or techniques you use. Would love any advice possible. Take care.

Hi Hanggan, thanks for the comments! Only the male mallard has the green head, except in the summer when they molt and have a similar appearance to the females, which are more brown but have the same coloring in the wings. Here's a female:
