Thanks Andre! Yes we do have pileated woodpeckers here. I've taken a few but not lately, I saw one "flash" by the same day I took this one but he wasn't stopping! I love all woodpeckers, we have the red bellied woodpeckers here also, sometimes at the feeder in the yard! Hope to post more soon. Darlene

Oh WOW...what a wonderful shot of this bird. So crisp and clear. It still looks a bit like a kookaburra but not as much as the more distant shot. It's such a beautiful subject and you've captured it so well here. The DOF is excellent and I really like the foreground branches in htere blurred too. Very nice shot. Cheers - Ann :)

Hi Darlene, This is a pretty good shot of a Downy Woodpecker. I can never seem to get one in a decent pose. I've taken lots of shots of them but they always seem to be hugging up close to a big trunk or mostly covered by branches. Another thing they seem to do a lot is position themselves in between the camera and the sun :) Do you have the Pileated Woodpeckers down there? They are fantastic! The "Real Woody Woodpeckers" with the crazy laugh and everything. Andre

Hi Darlene, Tell Krystal and Mason We all said Helllllloooooooo! :-) I hope and pray each day that Krystal gets to feeling better and that she kicks this in the butt.
Most People wouldn't think to use the branch in the foreground as a framing tool....But You have nailed this shot to the T!!! I Love the colors and the wonderful DOF. Well done as always my friend. Best Regards
