Very effective pattern in the roots, with their movement toward the UR. I might be tempted to convert this in B&W as the colours are minimal and the main focal point is the lines and the pattern.

I made this one a favourite. I am myself fascinated with roots, they are very tempting subjects. Gabriela

Kes, you are right about the color on this shot. I have even enhanced this slightly as the original scene was pretty dull and the lighting very flat as the sun just does not shine in this part of the canyon. I don't like to over do colors, I like to keep them more natural. Thanks so much for your wonderful comments. Don.

Nice one Don.
I think the movement/blur of the upper right reddish colored leaves gives it a sense of...life.
Great use of the natural angles/lines in the root to draw the eye up and to the center right. This is preferable over drawing attention to the dead center of a shot. My eye is then drawn to the main trunk, then down the horizon/slope of hill, and then generally up with the small tree trunks into the leaves. There is sort of a half circular pattern in the leaves that pulls the eye back down. (Nice composition.)
The colors seem a little dull, but I'm sure they are spot-on, just in the shadows. I probably would have messed up the shot trying to jazz up the color. Ha.
Real nice tree shots you have been putting up, congrats on the successful shooting!

I like the movement of the leaves, must have been a windy day. Beautiful reminder of autum, just a great shot.

Great composition Dave. The wide angle lens was a nice choice here. Such a beautiful time of the year.

Great shot you got, and you framing this so the roots come towards the viewer (and falling out of the shot) made my eyes climb up the hill to see if I could find the tree that grew these. Do like the contrast between the great/brown/black of the roots and the lovely fall colors of the leaves with green peaking through here and there. Well seen and shot. Almost as good as being there. This image is very well rooted Don (pardon the pun - I couldn't resist)I love the detail you have here and the colours are super. Great composition and yes the framing is excellent and very creative. I still haven't got around to learning how to frame but with all the beaut frames being presented here I'm becoming shamed into learning.....some day. :) Nice work. Cheers - Ann :)

You got a lot of interesting shots on your Sedona safari, Don. I'm still trying to get my fall homework done. I have taken a few pics in RAW and I'm playing with them :-) Larry
