Oh very intriguing about plaintive and incomplete! will you tell us why? Hope not! :) Sooo much more melancholy that the passing is not explained.
Great shadows here for the paint and grain and rust and dead leaves. Perspective very unfussy, I mean good framing to emphasise form but taken from the point of view of someone taking the shortcut.

I like the colors and composition/crop.. i think it lacks sharpness though.. gives a feeling of a tad motion.

Cheers

Hi Jeanette,

I like the textures and the fall atmosphere here with the leaves on the floor and the warm toning. If this great place really disappears, you should go out and do some more shots =)

best wishes,
Thilo

Oh, thanks Jeanette for the explanation! Now I understand better what you're doing and it all makes sense. Sometimes we see pictures in a void, without a context and our understanding is limited to strictly visuals - color, composition, etc. Now I know the underlying theme, and it does connect with everything, including the rails and the shack and the chairs, and the graffitti, great documentary! And very nostalgic! Best regards, Ina

Jeanette Hägglund Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59855} 11/4/2005
Hi Ina, also me like hard croppings, details and so on..... but here i?m doing something else. A big part of Uppsala are disappearing and a new face of this city will arrive, so this is my kind of documentary the "old" look.... I have since 15 years ago been down to the rails and making shots becuase i like the area, the mood and atmosphere, the rust, the metal and so on. 70% of all my abstracts are from there and now i have seen it been demolished which awaken a nostalgic side of me - good or bad, i don?t know!
My abstract geometrics and architecture will return.....

Jeanette

Mooi (nice) shot Jeanette,

It's the same in Holland all those old industry items are torn down quickly now.
It's a pity, but guess that's live evolution.

Old railroad arrays and boat wharfs are my favourites too, happy I'm not the only one who's crazy ;-))

Groet .

Belli i colori e la linea divisoria tra i due piani: da una parte abbiamo il legno e le foglie con i loro colori caldi, dall'altra il metallo con il suo tono chiaro.
Molto ben composta

hej, jeanette! you've got a unique eye for details... you give life to the smallest, insignificant little thing that everyone would ignore and pass by... the rivets look great, and so do the autumn leaves (again!) on the wooden "floor"... i love those details too, and usually they get immediately my attention, but i am unable to make them interesting in my photos... my eye works better on large angles, i think...

Thanks Stefan - i?m happy you notice that. When shooting with digital the colours so easily get strong and IF saturate them make it too much! Natural strong are good! :)

??something without any interest becomes nice through your eyes.? Yes? you do turn the mundane into the interesting? find the attractive in the banal, show beauty otherwise unnoticed ? Fabrice said it well!

I shot some details from old logging trains yesterday. I have about a dozen decent ones but they're not as interesting or as well made as yours. I'll send a link to one of your old pics when I have them online.

I'm agree with Antonio Jeanette. It seems that whereever you are, whatever the subject, you capture beautiful photo. Something without any interest becomes nice through your eyes.
This is a beautiful composition well croped with nice light and great colors.
Congrats

Good composition with strong diagonal lines, Jeanette. Those white caps, their pattern and their shadows add in a lot of interest for me, much more so than the wood and paint patina, and the autumn leaves - Best regards, Ina
