Thank you Ann for your very kind words. I use that lens a lot and am very happy with it. I would love to have the 350D but bought the 300D only a couple of months before the 350 came out. I didn't know the new one was coming out. Oh well...that's technology for you. The national parks over here are really amazing. They are all so very different and every one is just awesome. I do hope you get to see them.

When you first got to Yosemite National Park and saw that El Capitan was surrounded by these clouds you were probably disappointed, but being able to take a photo like this may very well have been worth the less than perfect weather day most of us would want to be there on.
The foreground with the trees in their green and yellow shades is beautiful.
You image of El Capitan is well worth the ratings you have received and the staff choice (I'm sure you received sometime ago). Congratulations on making the front page of usefilm and bringing this photo to us to enjoy.

Background is too white. Composition could be improved. Trees feels a bit cut, they also have strange lightning. You should use another camera/lens for bigger prints. The timing was good :)

it's all been said, but you've really caught the edifice in a very unique way.
looks a bit strange with the tres being so tall in front of the cliff - guess they were closeer then the granite. In reality they are 200 feet and he's 3500!

My favorite place on Earth - I know it well. You were lucky to capture this as the weather in Yosemite can change rapidly, especialy in the valley. This view must have been taken near the Bridal Veil Falls park. I would move El Capitan over to the right if you can, and burn in the sky some more to stop the scene leaking out of the highlight areas. If the original can hold it, I would also crop in closer to show the rock in all its splendor! A beautiful image showing the 'Range of Light' that Yosemite offers.

great capture... This photo should be held up for all new photographers to view to show that you don't have to have a sunny, blue sky day to create interesting images. In fact, many times the best photos are when conditions are not perfect in the everyday sense. The clouds form a perfect balance and contrast between the majestic form of El Capitan and the sky... I was just at the park last week and conditions were perfect, almost wish I was there on a cloudy day like you encountered.. excellent work
