Scanned from a print? I bet the print looks even better... It didn't look like the UK to me, at least we don't have many like that in Bristol, where I come from. South Shields, maybe? But I see it was taken in India. Great portrait.

Thousands like thisin South Shields but alas I made an error .forgot to change the thingy and of course he was shot in India--Well not exactly shot but photographed. This was taken from a 6x4 print I found in the house the other day.

Joking aside, this is a superb portrait, the expression, exposure and shallow DOF all draw you to the eyes - and really like the backlit bits of material shining as well.
