Hi Endre,
I think I understand the reason for not putting a border on your photos, if all you are looking for is critique on the image taken. I started posting mine without borders last year. I just didn't like the way they were presented against the Usefilm white background. Especially when a lot of my own images were light toned around the edges. I think your horse photo falls in to that catagory. Just my personal taste, but I realize that if you frame a print of this, it would look much different on the border.

I still don't understand why so much praise for the white background? Just my taste I guess. Most people love it, so what can I say?

After seeing the original you posted, I'm blown away by the effect you have created here. It is a completely different image and IMHO a more pleasing one. I love the irregularity of the edges created by the white areas as it adds a magical 'floating in space' feel.

Great work Endre.
Cheers

Hi Endre, I revisited your picture, and saw the original. Quite a stir you've created in here :) I still love the B & W and light treatment. It does make the horses (1) statuesque and (2) innundated with light, which is a wonderful mood. I love the fact there is no distracting background and most importantly, the upper contours melt slowly into the light. That really makes the photo larger, borderless. My attempt was not so much to square it off at the bottom, but to make it fade as well, by eliminating the hard edge. Maybe my PS skills are not quite as good, but that was my intention, anyway. To fade it softly - because I like the feel of airiness and borderlessness at the top. Cheers! Ina

At the same time highly appreciate any time spent here from all of You, dear visitors :-) and evene more Your comments!

attached please find the original, as from the camera,

wonder if you like that better ?

In my previous remark in Hungarian i was mildly complaining about the high key of the picture.. I still think that a friendly darker sepia tone would result in a fine, lyrical pic but I am glad to see that many of you our there delight in this statue-like approach of Endre. I don't agree with Ina's cloning, at least to me the irregular bottom part of the pic added to the effect.

Andre, You are fully entitled for having a view on anything posted, that is why I came here. Thank you for your thoughts! :-))
On border: yes a frame is part of the image, but my expectation from UF friends to evaluate the photo, normally. For this reason i am not posting my shots framed,(posted some earlier but stopped that practice)
Thanks for your time spent here, highly appreciated!
My best,
Endre

Andre Denis Andre Denis   {K:66407} 11/1/2005
Hi Endre,
I know a lot of people like this kind of "high key" image, but for me, it doesn't quite work. The detail in the horses mane, lower jaw line and body are great. But, on my monitor, the white background around the top combined with the white top of the horses nose and white rope just doesn't seem right. Too much of the same white all blended in together. Also, wouldn't a border have been helpful to counter act the whiteness? Maybe it is just me though, because everyone else seems to like it the way it is? I'm not trying to be over critical. Just trying to explain how I see it. Am I missing something?

Tessék több ilyen képet ide feltenni, hadd legeltessük a szamünket! ;)

Szia és szép napot!
