To me it looks like you've caught very natural looking colours here James. I read how you sandwiched it and I think your technique worked a treat without being oversaturated. The sky looks great and the archway has caught a lovely splash of sunlight and the details in the twisted juniper trunk are excellent. All the elements work perfectly complimented and lovely clarity throughout. Beautiful.

Thanks Dave. I wouldn't have even thought about taking this shot with a single exposure because it wouldn't have worked at all. I'm not sure it really works as I've presented it either. Just thought I share an experiment.

Excellent composition, James, that vertical format really works here. Your technique in PS made an excellent image when it would be very problematical, in not impossible, to get it straight from the camera. Well done! Dave.
