About hahaha, well, not really a portrait. Do you know how hard it is to hold a camera and try and focus while biking on uneven, water covered sea ice? But it's great fun trying!!

Well, Darryl, you'd be surprised at how much grip those knobbly tires actually got on that rotting sea ice (still upwards of 4 to 5' thick, btw). A fact that I learned is that sea ice, unlike fresh water ice, very rarely gets that smooth glazed finish and very often is also "etched" or whatever one might call it, due to the snow that gets packed down on it over the course of the winter. So in the spring, the first thing to melt is that packed down snow (fresh water) which leaves a film of water ontop of the sea ice until such time as it can find it's way into the sea through seal holes and cracks (leads) in the ice. It was a time of year that I very much looked forward to, once I found out how amazing it was to be biking in such an environment and it was very flat too, so if it was a firm surface, it was quite easy getting around. I also learned that seal holes and other objects of concern are easily visible and avoided and I never had any mishaps!! Cheers, Gary :)

Interesting perspective of your hand, handlebars, and stem of the bike. The one thing I can't understand is riding on water covered sea ice! It makes my blood freeze just thinking about how cold it would be if there was an oooooops!

Excellent portrait, Gary :) Fun shot, and still great composition. That blue is sea ice? Wow.
Take care, Ina
