About This hawk came out from no where and started crying.
Hawks are very vocal and I heard them all the time, but this is the first time I get them whith their beak open.

Excellent shot and beautiful wildlife portfolio Yamil. I just had the opportunity to shoot with a model who is an exotic bird handler so I got to shoot her with her African Hawk.

Yamil,

I have often heard that "luck" is where opportunity and preparation meet. We prepare ourselves with the right equipment and knowledge of our subject, then we go to the places where we will have the opportunity to capture these images. In this case I will say, with the utmost respect and admiration, that this is a "lucky" shot.

Congratulations, my friend. Sometimes it is better to be lucky.

Yes, for all the pictures of birds in fligh.
In general mode 2 is for action shots.
According to canon, the stabilizer makes possible to hand hold the lens at two stops slower than would normally be possible without camera shake.

This is a great picture. They say timing is everything, if so, you were there at the perfect time to capture this beautiful hawk. Great job!

Oh Jezzzzz, Im gone for couple of days and I see you got a EC Congrats Yami! But Gayle has a right to her Opinion as does everyone on this site. There is no need to Question that. I think you know that a award is only given by one person, and what means just as much is the fellow members comments. So BIG Congrats on the EC and lets just go out as usuall and shoot birds :).

Dear Gayle,
Thank you very much for your comment.
I really appreciate your kind words.
Specially after seem your gallery.
If you are into bird photography, I will also add to your list Marcus Armani.
He is my mentor in this fine art.
In the last 6 months I have learned from him no only about camera settings but also about species identification, their behavior and the best spots to go birding.
Here is his link.

Gayle...whilst I agree with your choice of bird photographers I feel you have missed out one extremely notable bird photographer. His birds are in flight and he captures extraordinary details that I have not seen in any of the other bird photographers images.

I feel they are all great in their own right but I think they can all learn something from Marcus Armani.

Yamil, I don't feel it's right to give EC or SC awards to the same people too frequently. The two images you've posted today are really exceptional however, and while it's difficult to chose between them, I think this one is the one I like most, and I feel I'd be wrong not to give it an EC. Congratulations on some very fine photography! I envy your opportunities with the hawks and kites!
