Hi Kasia. Well, I actually live in south eastern BC now, though I am once again working up in the arctic. Actually, you'd be amazed at how nice an arctic summer can be, though winters are long and cold. Doesn't usualy get much above the mid teens in the high arctic though I do recall a few days of around 20°C or so and thought it was a real heat wave! I'll tell you the truth, I wasn't too keen on coming up here (near Rankin Inlet) for work this spring knowing how windy it usually is around here. Combine -25 to -35°C with 30km/hr winds and it's just brutal... So yes, when it's like that I do long for those balmy spring days! Thanks for the comment and nice to see you posting again! Cheers from the arctic. Gary

I know that this photo has been up for quite a while - but does it ever warm up where you live? It seems that 90% of your shots are winter shots... I'm not complaining. I think they're amazing. I know that this one's Nunavut so hard to expect something other than snow... but do you ever long for the warm weather?

so that's what moses' story would have looked like if he had lived in an ice-age! Marvelous composition with great DOF in the water. The blue-green tones in the ice give an extra-cold effect. love it.

I had thought may be it's Alaska! Still, Nunavut! Must be wonderful paddling among such beautiful nature! I wish I'll have a chance to capture such a moment. You did great!

Talk about one brave kayakist... not the one we see, the one who was following holding his camera. Excellent commposition and a good contrast. The original slide probably holds more details in the highlights.

Great shot, Gary. I like the contrast of the yellow with all those shades of blue, and that we can glimpse what is ahead through the gap between the ice. The top of the burg on the right might be a little "hot", but it is a very minor distraction. Beautiful image. -- Naomi
