About I've seen hundreds of shots of this majestic valley near Ambleside on sites like this, so was reluctant to post ANOTHER, but I felt it worth while cause of the lit patches alone. We did get very lucky with the light, and this one's no exception.

the little nipple to the top right is "Pike o' Stickle" and I was up there in 1984 looking down that huge drop! It's about 2300 feet up!

Usual set up - tripod, polariser, 2 NDgrads and cable release, RAW F16 and about 0.3 seconds

Excellent 'glowing' shot Ade... and much better than my variation of the same scene (not going to post mine now!)

Crystal clarity on the clouds and hillsides and a beautifully balanced composition. Could be with Chris on this one thinking its one of your best yet (and that really is saying something!).

Awesome shot and presentation!

if you get a COKIN P filter holder, it's got 3 slots in it in total.

I have the polariser at the back, then there's 2 slots free.

The reason I was using 2 is that the sky was sooo bright compared to the foreground that one ND grad didn't stop it over exposing - so you just slide another one into the spare slot and slide the dark part over the bright sky - much the same as the first one.

With 2 you can have them in different positions as well - so you can get the top of the sky VERY VERY dark with 2 dark bits, then use just one dark bit for the lower parts.

makes a huge difference for landscapes

I admire your shot! Wish we could have some more shots like this! I like the balance of the blue and the green colors. Excellent!

Really beautiful lighting and saturated colours - how does the 2 ND grad setup work?

WOW! This is a masterful shot Ade. The lighting and skyscape do a great justice to this spectacular landform. In framing this to include the foreground land at the bottom amnd the near cloud at the top you have created a very well balanced composition. Fantastic filter choices here as well. Bravo!!!
