About The cathedral! - also known as St James's Park! 52000 seater stadium. The centre of the religion known as 'footy'. The sect are called, the 'Magpies', due to their black and white clothing.

The cathedral church in the picture is quite interesting too, 14th century, St Nicholas. Also at the bottom of the picture is the 12th century keep - where 'Newcastle', gets the name.

I took this from Gateshead, south of the river Tyne and about 1 mile away, but the power of the 12x zoom (432mm equivalent) is amazing. I didn't even notice the plane taking off from Newcastle airport, in the distance!

I think this would make a fine jigsaw.

The 'toon' were done by Wigan, Keith. Would you believe it? Worraliberty! It's the dreaded mackems next week!

Great to hear your comment on this shot. I cropped it right down to get the two, 'cathedrals' in. My first cityscape use of the 12x zoom, on the canon.

Cheers
Colin

Very good picture, Colin, showing the cathedrals of the old days in connection with the cathedrals of today.

Interesting to find as much modern structure around this nave of church to the paces Gothic, which contrast. Good capture Colin, your composition makes a beautiful demonstration of the shock of times...

Very nice shot of the cathedral, Colin, with good lighting to highlight it! Also a great contrast with the buildings behind it, in style and vintage. Thanks for the interesting "about", too.
Dave.
