About
Well, I've never done much with still life, but I did this one a few years ago for an illustration. It's a black and white print, hand colored with oil paints. I was trying to find a good backdrop, and I ended up taking off my Hawaiian shirt and hanging draping it over a chair. Window light with fill card, if I remember correctly.
Once again I am amazed at the quality of the hand colouring with oil paints, and perhaps more so at the idea of even attempting it! (My attitude, is why make it difficult for yourself...) I suppose it's the same thing that makes people use Holgas!
the fill light on the pears create a nice sense of uniformity and equanimity amongst the pears while and the backdrop and the immediate foreground add a bit of chaos and movement to the image. i really like this one. cheers, troy
