Could be Lee but when I shot him yesterday the first colors I saw on him were the rich rusty color. Thanks so much for all the comments, they mean a lot to me. Darlene

another great shot signed Darlene. Nice colors and DOF. Is the female greener than the male? That could explain for the green heron.

Another beautiful capture, Darlene. Great detail, as usual. I'm afraid I've gotten behind on my pictures. Both in making them and in commenting on the pictures of my friends. Thanks for your comments. I will try to get back in the groove :-) Larry

yet another great shot!! I think some of them appear to have a bit of greenish colouring on their backs (in direct sunlight). This could be a younger one?? My bird book does say they look more blusih than greenish though, (and that refers to the back feathers)

Hi Darleen,
Great shot! I'm jealous. ;^)
I think the back and head feathers are very green in bright sunlight. Kinda irridescent.

Darlene, I have no idea why they are called Green Herons. I saw a couple a few years ago that had exactly the same colouring as this one and from the pictures in the Bird Book I figured they were Green Herons. Maybe in the legs? Nice shot of him anyway! Andre
