hi, thank's for back me up, I know and realize that this is a global media, so that sometimes I meet people who understand the art, and sometimes they don't but act like a pro :), for me, I'll keep move on though. May be she just barrier her view from the art of paintings which so much different from the photography, if all the two were same, maybe it's really boring to read magazine like time or life or maybe world press photo, or even national geoghraphy. People can say whatever they have in their mind, but not everybody likes britney spears, or maybe madonna, thank's again for your support, I really appreciatte it.

Suzie,

As a man, photographer, and someone that never chop heads, I like this picture.

Viewer's eyes go to the right places, granted, there is always room for improvement but it seems improvement is an unlikely to come from Agus mum as it will from you.

I agree with Judi.. rules? bah!...

Okay...I will add my two cents here. The picture is well executed. The breast is showing but the nipple isn't. The body is partially showing, the head isn't. There is mystery contained from both these elements. The focus is justified in the feministic approach which was the call of the photographer.

I have uploaded many images of women, including self portraits. Such as this one.... http://www.usefilm.com/image/881411.html

I have received the expected...ooh's and ahh's. But I have also received good and bad photographic critiques from both men and women. But....do you notice the similiarities....no head and only showing what I want shown. Why???? Simply because photography is an art. A way of expressing oneself. You do not need to show everything or have everything in focus to create art. I find some portraits quite boring. Why??? Look at their eyes.....if they sit still for too long...they become soldiers. You try to capture emotion...something that will stir within the viewer....and that is usually contained by not showing everything but leaving something up to the imagination.

Yes.....everybody is entitled to their opinion...and let that stay....but at the same time....nobody should criticize ones choice of art because it doesn't tally with the norm.

RULES IN PHOTOGRAPHY......BAH!!! Rules are crap...rules are there to learn and establish oneself upon...but if we all stuck to the rules then all our images would be the same. Show yourself through your own creativity. Let the critiques come, and read them well...but don't let them control you. You will find some good ones and some bad ones amongst the words...it is up to you to find what you want to learn.

Good luck.

Judi

"Not even good pornography". . .you've got issues. Saying you're not out to offend but suggesting the photographer to have only his mother look at them. . . you've got issues. Something only a little boy reaching puberty would take -- or enjoy. . you've got issues.

This will be my final post in regards to this picture. I have given my opinion as an opinion, not to argue. First Mr. Middendorffi, you start your opinion on my critique with a sexist assumptive statement. What has my being a female have to do with my opinion? Second, if you reread my first entry, you will see that I said "if" the model did not wish to show her face, not that I assumed such was the case. After having viewed your photography, I can understand why you would become defensive about another person's pictures of partial heads as you do the same in your photographs. To me, that is poor amateur photography. I have no objection to nudes, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the human body, I am just saying that the shot was in my opinion, equal to something a boy reaching puberty would take - or enjoy. It's not artistic or even good pornography. That's how I see it. Subject closed.

thank you for your support, well this is a global kind of media, so sometimes we meet people with their own mind, sometimes good sometimes no,but for me, I really apreciate their comments, no matter what, by the way, thank you for your support, it really means to me, and it shows that there must be some people who really care about you or me, thank's again :)

Suzie, you are the only woman commenting so far on this photo. All the rest are positive comments but all by men. As a man and a photographer I happen to like this photo. Your comments seem to make assumptions that are not anywhere in evidence in this photo. All submissions should stand as they are without appendices and explanations as to what the photographer was trying to do, his mentality, etc. . .suppose we crop this photo from the rounded shoulder to the top edge of the frame beneath her nose (where it now ends). The viewer would still be able to see the delicacy of the human face. The forms in this photo as it stands are clear, sharp, delicate and artistic. . something worthy of praise. I think your comments have value and therefore ought to be considered, but assumptions regarding the photographer's or model's psyche aren't immediately relevant in critiquing a photo.

It sounds as if you are offended by my comments which was not my intention. I have looked at your other photographs and I've seen that your style is to to cut off heads. To me, if the breast is your focus, then make it your total focus and shadow out everything else. But to cut off part of the head is like tearing off the top of the Mona Lisa and saying it looks better that way. I have never seen nudes whether classified as art or pornography widely published or appreciated when they are partially decapitated. If you take offense at a critique then why submit your photos for public review? If you seek only praise, ask your mother to look at them.

thank you for your comments, it's really educated to me, by the way, the concept of this photo was just to explore my lowkey technique, but I like your crittique, it's really helpfull. It would be more educated if you could show me some of your pictures, so that I could learn from the professional kind of photographer like you (Or maybe you have to think alot before taking photograph.... sorry just kidding :))
thank you again.... Agus

I think if the woman did not want to reveal her face, she should have been posed with her face slightly turned away, or her hair disquising her features. The photo looks amateur with her head cut off halfway. There really isn't much moisture on her body, so to me, her arm looks dirty rather than wet.
