About I'm posting a series of three alternate versions of this today that I've been working on in PS. I'd appreciate any comments on which crop or version you prefer and why. This is the most altered version and has been created by combining the red and blue channels via layers with additional dodging and burning as well as adding a tint using the Hue/Saturation tool and adding a hint of grain with the Film Grain filter. I realize the direct flash on the face is a bit harsh, but right now I'm limited to the onboard flash if I want to take advantage of shooting TTL.

Onboard flash fired at -0.7ev

Eric, looked at all three and they are all wonderful but I really like this one best. Those eyes.......incredible! Beautiful image!

This one is tops for sure. The tight crop on the boy is better since the background is OOF on purpose and does not lend much to the shot. I find the effects you "added" subtle and no more than you would normally use in film processing anyway, it's just a Digital equivalent. As for the flash, the D70 does have balanced fill so it only adds as much as it needs by sampling every part of the frame prior to firing.I like the shot. -mm

I like this mostly.
Maybe you can try to see how it looks b&w (without toning) + decreasing a bit brightness and increasing contrast.

cheers
