As you said "looking quite surprisingly good in black and white". Yes it is true!!! That is reason why I put it on UF in B/W!
Color version is too "motley" for me!

Good idea the tight crop and low camera point. Because the geometric patterns do not give enough interest (IMO), I would try out something with colors, maybe a composite of B&W and color or a toned version, or a bicolor...
