Paul, this is a very touching image. I lived in New Orleans for a few years and have friends who managed to get away in time. My first paid job (although it was in Mobile) was building Mardi Gras floats, and so the picture has unusual personal resonances on that account as well. Thanks . . .

Regards,
--George

What an interesting collection. I too was wondering if this colorful celebration will ever be the same but hoping it will. Del.

I heard on the news today that they plan to have the French Quarter up and running in 90 days and a scaled down Mardi Gras next year. I think they can do it (as long as they don't get some frat boy from a local college but someone that can handle the job) Let's Hope, Mark

What a powerful and timely image. A very sobering thought, with the mask of Death in the foreground. I hope joy and celebration will come back to the lives of those affected by the hurricane.

Emotional image. Crop and DOF works. They will be back, I'm sure of it.
