About first i counted how long each light stays on and then i opened the shutter almost 10 seconds before the green light turned to orange and then to red... total exposure time no more than 30 seconds.

Hi Kostas,
Clever idea the one about the simultaneous lightning, and also an effective angle!.. sometimes, though, your titles trouble me a bit.. But I guess, this is a good thing ;)

George

thank you :-)

Sion, there were no stars visible at this part of the nightsky - we seldom observe more than a couple bright stars in our big city at night ;-)

this is a nice take on the long exposure shot. also i really like the graceful curve of the metal, just one thing did u PS the black sky to make it really really black? just wondering as i would have expected to see atleast one star in the sky at night :)

Todd,
a) the exposure was 30sec @ f16, one stop over the metered 15sec@f16, which equals 1/2sec@f2.8. this isnt a shutter time so extreme as to burn the lights,is it? ( i used a small aperture in order to get a long exposure which would guarantee some light trails from the passing cars - you dont see any cars here, but i mention in the info section that this is cropped from a fisheye original ;-)
b) each light was exposed for much less than 30seconds - the green for about 10, the orange for 1-2 and the red for the remaining seconds - and this explains their different glowing levels in the picture.
have a nice weekend too :-)

Todd Miller   {K:16464} 9/9/2005
the only reason i thought a filter might've been used is the lights don't seem too burned out considering the long exposure time. shows what i know! :P
have a good weekend........

thank you :-)))

Todd,
what made you think i might have used filters on this one?
no, this is a simple long exposure with the camera mounted on a manfrotto 190proB tripod and no filter on the lens ;-)
