The funny thing is, but I'm sure you noticed, that whereas the figure itself still seems to be quite young, but suffering from an injury, his shadow comes across as that of an old man. Therefore, the manhole/clock is (IMHO) so important to this image.

Thanks for your detailed critique and comment. The resemblance of manhole to a clock is a very interesting reading. Someone in another web site thought that it "is" a clock. Thanks alot again for your interpretation.

At first I was not sure which one I liked best. I'd have to go with this one, since the B&W seems to bring out more emotion. Moreover I prefer the cropping in this one, and the manhole cover (a very important asset, resembling a clock and hence stressing the lack of time we have here on earth) also gets more attention this way. Again, LOVELY.
