I'm not sure I agree with you on that here, Petal (leuke naam trouwens). If both the string and the shadow would be in focus, you'd risk people not getting that the shadow is the real subject here. Of course, this is merely a hypothetical remark, since I'd have to see to be sure or to have an idea, rather...

Neat shot!!! Wonderful colors, textures and shadow, nice composition... well spotted!!! But I would've liked it if the DOF was a little bit bigger.... so that the piece of string was in focus too... ;-D!!
