Hi Bill,
I wish I had been able to get closer. I don't think I can crop it much more without losing quality. It did not fill the frame very well. I think I will take your advice in the future with wildlife photos. I do find I leave too much background, even though it's not a landscape photo. ;^)

Nice grab of the pileated. Try cropping in more...don't make the eyes work to see such a great image! When you're lucky enough to get one of these shots, let the viewer enjoy what you did...
