About Next in a series about Cincinnati Graffiti Art...here's a little background:

Living canvas
Graffiti, hip-hop influenced art foundation of Scribble Jam

It's impossible to deny the impact of the activities Scribble Jam celebrates, according to Contemporary Arts Center associate curator Matt Distel.
"Scribble Jam, the event and the magazine, has been a vital part of Cincinnati's cultural underground for the past 10 years," he says. "Graffiti, hip-hop culture and street culture in general has had a profound impact on the visual arts, the music world, graphic design, film, advertising. When the organizers of Scribble came to us with a proposal to participate in this year's event, we thought it would be foolish not to."
What arose from that initial proposal is a show that, Distel says, highlights "a sophisticated group of artists exploring the complex realities of contemporary life."

This is my favorite in your series so far. The lighting is very very good here as it throws the blocks making up the wall into relief, highlighting the fact that this is a rough style of art improvised on buildings, not a medium designed or prepared to accept artwork. Improvisation using a rough medium is a key aspect of this artform and you have done a great job showing that in a pleasing way. Also, the view of the artist interacting with the work gives the shot a scalar context and dimension. Great piece of work on an interesting subject. Bravo!

I like that very much and meant to comment, but I got lost in a moment of nostalgia. I don't multi-task when I can help it. --g

I like this one a lot. It reminds me of a favorite movie "The Horse's Mouth" with Alec Guiness. I am probably one of the 83 people who saw it. But I did see it more than once.

Cheers,
--George

Nice capture Larry. Interesting to see graffiti as it's being created. Well composed shot, I like the partial view of dumpster included in corner. Looks like a tough shot in very strong sunlight, seems a bit overexpossed even with the 1/1500 speed.
