My last name is not a common name and there are several variations of the spelling. I know very few who share my name other than relatives. Recently I received an invitation to attend a gathering of a national organization with my last name holding their biannual meeting just 20 miles from my home. The gathering was in a church built in the sixteen hundreds. The primary interest of the group is genealogy. I decided to attend. I enjoyed the program and took several photos. For the next 2 or 3 days I will be posting photos from that gathering.
Sounds like you had a good time. We've done some research into our family history and it is interesting what one finds out. That's neat that plates were made with your family name in the different spellings. MAry
Interesting Del, we were just reading through some history of my city-Clinton, Iowa, and in one of the books, there is a map of one block in the south end of town were the name Metheny same spelling as yours, is marked as one of the home owners in 1917, the address is 310 16th Ave. So. I can't find any more in the book about this family other than that!
