Aaro akta jinish - these are not 3d ridges as you might have felt - they are painings on a flat surface with some 3d effect - the surface was very flat and symetrical semicircular interiors of a dome.

3. Most importantly, rule of thirds is a shortcut, mind it, not a rule. 'If you are not sure how you can make your image look eye catching, apply the rule of thirds.' - there are millions of great photos (though not this one :)) where the rule is broken. Very important point to be noted here is - this image is not of an object - it is a capture of the riot of colors, so I intend the viewer to see the whole image as one, I do not have an object for the eye to be carried over to that. :-) Think of these and I am sure you will get what I am trying to say: 1. Do you think of a 1/3 composition when you are doing a macro shot? 2. Do you think of a 1/3rd rule (you do actually, but not in the way as what you have said) when you shoot Taj mahal? 3. Do you use the rule when you are shooting a procession on the road?
Cheers...Bijit.

1. No, not flash, only diffused sunlight. 2. Yo cannot capture the architecture when you are capturing colors - it is a shot of the colorfulness of the fresco, not the architectural beauty of the dome, which was pretty ordinary. The painting end exactly where it has been cropped.
